Love Island winners Lorenzo Alessi and Julia Majchrzak reportedly split up shortly after leaving the villa. The TV stars met and struck up a relationship on the latest series of the ITV2 reality show which aired earlier this year and wrapped towards the end of July.
NTAs appearance 'to prove things are amicable'
Whilst the pair made a joint appearance at the NTAs on Tuesday night, it's thought that they actually called it quits weeks before all that and they only agreed to attend the glamorous showbiz event to prove that things are amicable between them.
A source said: "It’s the usual thing where life outside the villa proves to be too tough a test. Viewers already saw how Lorenzo’s approach to dating was nonchalant to say the least and Julia also had high standards."
Speaking to The Sun, the source added: "It proved to be tricky to square that circle on the outside and things fizzled out last week. They agreed to do the NTAs together as they still get on, there’s no bad blood, and then would consider how to proceed."
Signs of trouble after the win
Shortly after their victory on the ITV2 show, which saw them claim with 46.9% of the public vote and scoop a £50,000 cash prize, Lorenzo and Julia said they were "exclusively dating" in the weeks after they left the villa.
However, just days ago, fans believed they had spotted the signs that things were already over when Lorenzo was caught "liking" pictures of other girls on Instagram. One fan wrote: "I'm really disappointed Lorenzo damn man u have a girl but you can't keep ur hands off liking other womans pics on insta, ur so bad wtf!"
The pair then had something of an awkward interview on This Morning, where Lorenzo said he planned to take Julia to a rooftop bar to mark their first official date outside the villa, with her asking when it would happen. Lorenzo quickly jumped in to say there was "a lot of planning involved" and joked they could use their £50,000 prize pot for the date. Whilst it seemed all amicable, the awkwardness had fans making commentary online, with some dubbing it a "showmance". A short while later, Julia and Lorenzo shared snaps from a restaurant, seemingly confirming that their first date outside of the villa had taken place.
Reaction after their win
Speaking after their win, Lorenzo described it as all "very surreal" as the pair were crowned champions on the latest series. "I did not think this would happen eight weeks ago walking in there. What an honour; very privileged, very humbled," he said, whilst Julia added: "We feel very grateful and it’s crazy, coming from Casa I had no idea I would make it through Casa and then win. What has happened?! We loved it and enjoyed every second, and always lived in the moment."
Asked what they'd say to those who doubt their relationship, Julia added: "That’s natural, people will have doubts. We know what we have got and we believe in ourselves and being there for each other. Watch this space!"
"We haven’t gone through some of the stages the other couples have - L bombs, girlfriend/boyfriend, and I didn’t want to rush anything. I’m a slow burner, and we’ve only known each other for four weeks and I have loved every second of that and putting pressure on that just because the show was coming to an end would have ruined things," Lorenzo shared. "We have built this amazing connection and amazing foundation, and now I want us to experience the next milestones in the real world. Julia really changed my time in there - I was quite passive until Casa and the minute I got there, there was an instant spark and that’s where it changed for me and I put my foot on the gas."
