Love Island fans threaten Ofcom complaints after villa feud

Fans of ITV's Love Island have threatened to lodge complaints with Ofcom after the villa descended into turmoil on Wednesday night (8 July). The chaos erupted during the Couple Goals challenge, where Islanders were asked which couple was least likely to last outside the villa.

Challenge sparks confrontation

Lorenzo received a text announcing the challenge: "Islanders, it's time to reveal your true feelings in today's challenge, Couple Goals." All Islanders gathered around the Firepit for the challenge hosted by Jasmine and Kavan. When asked which couple was least likely to last, Julia and Lorenzo selected Jasmine and Kavan, but Julia confessed there was another couple she had considered – Sean and Lola.

Lola responded: "Classic. It's because we're frauds." Sean admitted he was "sick of it, honestly" as Julia continued to question the authenticity of their connection. However, Julia said she felt "scared" to voice her opinion due to being interrupted, leading Lola to call her actions "weird."

Growing frustrated, Priya stated: "It's annoying me, leave them alone now." Martha weighed in: "It's fair game at the end of the day... at least you're being true to yourself." Julia later chimed in: "Don't hate the player, hate the game."

Viewers were left fuming and called for a public vote. One wrote on X: "Can we vote for julia as fav girl or something? ? ?" Another added: "Can we all vote Julia favourite girl bc why is she getting ganged up on?" A third said: "Give us a vote I swear, need Julia as favourite girl to humble that fed."

Ofcom complaints threatened

Many threatened to complain to Ofcom. One person said: "Can we call ofcom about Julia being ganged up on." Another echoed: "So how do we put in an OFCOM complaint against Lola." A third commented: "WANT THE SMOKE COME TASTE THIS OFCOM COMPLAINT." A fourth replied: "Nah i'm gonna complain to ofcom cus they all just ganged up and bullied julia." A fifth declared: "I'm reporting all these girls excluding Angelista and Julia to ofcom for bullying."

Reflecting on the altercation, one person vented: "GET LOLA OUT THIS VILLA." Another commented: "Wow this villa is punching down on Julia. It's not nice to watch at all." However, one viewer said: "Why is everyone so supportive of Julia… she's kicking off with Lola for what? 'Sharing her opinion' on someone else's relationship… Why is it any of her business. I feel like everyone standing with Julia must be super young or something cause I just don't get it…"

Love Island airs Sunday to Friday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
