Love Island fans have voiced their opinions on what they're calling a 'frightening' response from Lola during the opening segment of Movie Night, aired on July 5. Frequently regarded as one of the most explosive twists of any series, Movie Night sees the Islanders assemble in the garden before a massive screen to watch carefully selected clips from the series, including private chats, brutal honesty, and concealed romantic encounters. This year's installment featured only the opening portion but already triggered fierce clashes between couples, particularly around the lads' conduct at Casa Amor.
Sean's Casa Amor Behavior Exposed
One clip, titled 'Sean's All That,' highlighted Sean Fitzgerald's actions and words. It confirmed he said 'I think I may have gone exclusive too early' during the heartbeat challenge, even if playfully. The footage also revealed his immediate reaction upon entering Casa Amor and spotting bombshell Charleen Murphy, as well as informing the other lads that his type on paper were Martha and Julia. His behavior during a Casa challenge was also shown, as he treated Charleen and Martha to a strip tease and lap dance, before lifting Martha off her feet to snog her.
Lola's Baffling Response
Despite Ellie and Yasmin being unable to conceal their astonishment at Sean's behavior and questioning whether Lola was alright, her response left viewers baffled. Posting on the Love Island subreddit, one fan asked: 'Lola, what even was that fake happy reaction to Sean going full Magic Mike?' They continued: 'Watching Lola defend Sean was gruelling. She sat there with a smile but there is no way that didn't hurt her. She was seething. But she KNEW that if she reacted, Julia would have a field day and she wasn't going to give her that opportunity. Sean was sitting there going 'this is bad' and Lola's like 'I'm happy with that.''
Throughout the ordeal, Lola kept laughing, but viewers believe it was an act so she wouldn't lose credibility in front of Julia. As one observer remarked: 'She didn't want to act bothered especially in front of Julia and potentially proving her right but she acted worse than being bothered and looked stupid.' Another commented: 'I'm sorry she's actually scary.' While someone else responded: 'The smile looked so forced and painful.'
Lola's Defense
Despite Yasmin maintaining she needed to defend herself against the 'hurtful behavior,' and disclosing Lola had assured them she was fine as long as Sean 'didn't pick anyone up,' Lola claimed she was 'chill.' She further revealed that Sean had already disclosed 'everything.' Movie Night is slated to carry on for at least one more episode with even more secrets being uncovered. Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
