Love Is Blind UK star Yasmin broke down in tears after revealing a skin condition she used to hide from the world. The new season of the Netflix reality dating series premiered its first eight episodes on August 19.
Yasmin Opens Up About Vitiligo
Physician Associate Yasmin, 32, from London, has had vitiligo for most of her life. She grew up in a strict religious household with a Ghanaian father and Egyptian-Lebanese mother and has never had an official boyfriend. She hopes the pods will bring change.
During one of her dates, Yasmin said: "I've got pigmentation." She continued: "It really rocked my self confidence for a very long time. And I always used to like just cover it with make-up, basically for like 20 years."
Emotional Confession
Revealing she found out about her vitiligo when she was eight years old, Yasmin added: "I would never want anyone to see me without it. Only really close friends knew about it. At its worst, I couldn't open the door to the postman if I didn't have it covered up."
Breaking down in tears, she admitted feeling "unattractive" but later joked: "We need to get back to hot girl s***."
Embracing Her Skin
Over the years, Yasmin has since embraced her vitiligo, often sharing snaps on social media. Last year, she announced she was a finalist for Miss Universe Great Britain. On Instagram, she said: "It's an honour to take part in such a positive and empowering programme, and something that the Yasmin I knew 5 years ago, who still hid behind layers of camouflage makeup, would NEVER have dreamed of doing!"
She added: "I was inspired to apply by @loginasalah , the current Miss Universe Egypt, a beautiful woman with #vitiligo . I hope by joining this programme I can also encourage anyone (woman or not , vitiligo or not!) to go after things they never previously thought possible!"
