Louis Tomlinson has spoken out against what he describes as 'hurtful' conspiracy theories about his personal life. The singer, 33, took to X to share a statement in which he condemned 'conspiracy chat' regarding his relationship, his son, and his late mother, Johannah Deakin.
In his post, Tomlinson wrote: 'The last few months have made it impossible to be on here. All the conspiracy chat about my relationship, my son or even stretching sometimes to opinions on my Mum. It's just too much and too hurtful for me to see!' He concluded by thanking fans who have consistently supported him.
The former One Direction star has been the target of persistent rumours since he went public with his relationship with Zara McDermott, 28, a former Love Island contestant, whom he began dating after her split from Sam Thompson last December. Theories have also extended to his son, Freddie Reign, 9, whom he shares with ex Briana Jungwirth, and to his late mother, who died of leukaemia in 2016 at age 43.
Tomlinson's statement also appears to address long-standing speculation about a romantic involvement with former bandmate Harry Styles—a rumour both have repeatedly denied. In an interview with Brazil's G1 in April 2024, Tomlinson acknowledged the persistence of such theories, saying: 'There is nothing I can say... I'd be lying if I said it didn't irritate me a little, but it's the nature of the job.'
While Tomlinson has not indicated whether he has left X entirely, he remains active on Instagram. His next scheduled performance is on July 26 at the mBank Summer Festival in Lodz, Poland, alongside Shaggy, Cool Kids of Death, Kult, and London Grammar.
