Davina McCall was compelled to deliver heartbreaking news to two siblings during the latest instalment of Long Lost Family: Born Without a Trace. The ITV programme strives to reconnect biological families who have been separated over the years.
Sisters' search ends in tragedy
Last night's episode (August 24) introduced viewers to Natasha Carr, who was abandoned in a lavatory at St. Thomas' Hospital in 1989, when she was merely a week old. Natasha had previously featured on the programme in 2018, when she was successfully reunited with her full sister Lee-Ann following three years of investigation. Lee-Ann had also been discovered in the staff toilets at St. James' Hospital when she was just days old.
The pair were eventually brought together in 2022. The programme has now provided an update on the family in Long Lost Family: What Happened Next.
Father's death revealed
Davina was obliged to inform the sisters that their biological father had tragically passed away several years before the show was broadcast, away from the cameras, reports the Express. She revealed on the programme: "I'm on my way to give Natasha and Lee-Ann major information; sadly, their birth father has died, which we've told them away from the cameras."
The women's father had been raised in Jamaica until he reached 14 years of age. He tragically succumbed to cancer.
Mother wants to meet them
Positive news was on the horizon, however, as their birth mother was revealed to still be alive and "would really like the chance to meet them and to start building a relationship". It was also disclosed that she had additional children.
As the episode drew to a close, Natasha revealed she had successfully reunited with her mother, while Lee-Ann admitted she needed more time to process the revelations she'd uncovered.
