Jorge had been dealing with a 'health-related situation' since before the World Cup in June. His son was seen crying after a match, prompting speculation. Lionel later clarified, "Why was I crying? It had absolutely nothing to do with football. I have had a few difficult days."
The Messi family issued a statement saying, "The Messi family wishes to inform you that Jorge Messi is currently dealing with health problems. He is currently under medical supervision and is recovering well.
