Lily Allen on Relationship With Boyfriend Jonah Freud

Lily Allen has given fans a rare glimpse into her home life with boyfriend Jonah Freud, opening up about her relationship style in a new interview. The singer, 41, is in a relationship with Jonah Freud, 29, a writer and the great-great-grandson of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. He is also the nephew of artist Lucian Freud and son of Matthew Freud, founder of the communications company Freuds.

Relationship Style Revealed

Speaking to Perfect Magazine, Allen gave a brief insight into her relationship style, beginning with the confession: "And yes, I've got a boyfriend." When asked how 'high maintenance' she is, the star said: "Hmm. I'd say like seven, eight."

She added: "I'm very low maintenance. I pay for all my own s**t. I do like to go to expensive restaurants but I never would ever expect anyone else to pay for it. All of the finer things in life, I provide for myself. So that's not high maintenance. Unless we're talking about my own maintenance of myself. Then yes, 10. But to others, no. I don't demand a particular amount of attention. I don't get upset if people don't call me."

Need for Validation

Allen then confessed that while she may not be high maintenance in some ways, she is in a relationship when it comes to validation. "OK, I'm high maintenance in a relationship. I'm like, 'Do you love me?' 'Are you gonna leave me?' 'I'm ugly, aren't I?' I need a lot of validation," she said.

This marks the first time the star has given any insight into her current relationship. The couple have been photographed spending time together over the past year, including at London restaurants and at Allen's Christmas party at London's Stringfellows in December 2025, as well as on a recent trip to Rome.

Previous Marriage

Allen has been open about the breakdown of her marriage to Stranger Things star David Harbour, which she explored in her recent album West End Girl. The singer was married to Harbour from 2020 until they split in 2025. The couple met on celebrity dating app Raya and went public in 2019, marrying in a Vegas wedding during the pandemic.

As detailed in her album, the couple explored non-monogamy, but Harbour reportedly had an affair for several years with a woman known as 'Madeline' in Allen's album. In a recent interview with Variety, Harbour said the album release was "weird" for him but he had respect for her artistic process. "I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that," he said. He added: "I can't really say that much more, because it's my private life. In spite of the fact that a lot of people don't allow me a private life — I value it. And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won't speak about that."
