Liam Payne allegedly spiralled into a drink and drug-fuelled frenzy in the hours before his death, according to two sex workers who say they were with him on the day he fell from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.
The 31-year-old former One Direction star died after plummeting 46ft from the third-floor balcony of his room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel on October 16, 2024. Sworn testimonies from Aldana Serrano and Lucila Goitea, obtained by the Mail on Sunday and reported by the Mirror, describe a volatile encounter hours before his death.
Women claim singer turned agitated over unpaid fee
The pair said they had been summoned to the hotel by Payne earlier that day and had consensual sex with him. They claimed he became increasingly agitated when he struggled to pay an agreed $5,000 (£3,700) fee because he had no access to cash.
According to their statements, Payne smashed his £30,000 gold Rolex and boasted he could "get ten of those" before allegedly punching the hotel television three times. He is said to have calmed down, dropped to his knees and pleaded with the women to stay, telling them that "money didn't make him happy" before singing his own songs while drunk and asking for cocaine.
Timeline of Payne's final day
The women stated they arrived at the hotel at around 11.30am, presented identification at reception and were allowed into his room. Because Payne spoke only English and they spoke Spanish, they communicated through a translation app. They stated: "During our time there, we had sex with him, which was consensual sex, only once, and he wore protection."
After roughly two hours, the pair said they asked again for the agreed payment. They claimed Payne instead offered them his Rolex, which he later smashed when they declined. One woman recalled: "We told him we only wanted money so he took it and smashed it. He told us he didn't care about the money." She added: "And then he broke the TV, he punched it. He made us understand that he could smash everything because he knew he could pay for it."
The women said they tried to leave, but Payne followed them into the hotel lobby, where they told staff about the alleged damage and the outstanding payment. They briefly returned to collect their belongings, with one recalling: "He apologised for giving us a bad time." They departed shortly before 4pm, leaving Payne behaving erratically as he returned to his room.
Toxicology and final days
A toxicology report released after his death found alcohol, cocaine and the sedative Klonopin in Payne's system. He had arrived in Argentina 16 days earlier while waiting for his US visa renewal and spent much of the trip with girlfriend Kate Cassidy and businessman Rogelio "Roger" Nores. He was reportedly sober for the first fortnight before Cassidy flew back to Miami on October 14 and Nores also left the country.
Payne had checked out of the luxury Park Hyatt after alleged damage to his room and a heated confrontation with staff, then moved to the CasaSur Palermo. He reportedly contacted the two women after finding one of their profiles online, sending photographs of himself in bed and a video confirming his identity when one doubted she was speaking with him.
Payne fell to his death at 5.07pm. The women said they only learned what had happened after seeing reports on social media, and subsequently gave statements to police.
