Liam Gallagher has ruled out a return by Oasis to the Glastonbury Festival. Following his reunion with brother and bandmate Noel Gallagher for the Live 25 Tour last year, there has been speculation the Manchester band’s next big gig could be during the return of the Somerset festival in 2027.
However, after an Oasis fan account suggested there was a high likelihood the band could play Worthy Farm again, Gallagher hit back with an expletive-filled response.
Gallagher’s blunt reply to fan speculation
The original post read: “According to The Scotsman, Oasis are among the favourites to headline Glastonbury 2027, with odds of 4/1. Could we see them return to the Pyramid Stage?”
The 53-year-old replied: “It’s not HAPPENING so all you croc wearing flag waving shit c**** can calm the f*** down.”
Oasis have headlined Glastonbury twice, in 1995 and 2004, but more recently both brothers have taken aim at the festival.
Brothers’ past criticism of the festival
Responding to a post on X last year asking if they could headline the Pyramid Stage again, Liam commented: “Hope not.”
He later added: “I like the other stages and the tents, but the main stage is like playing to a load of jamboree teachers.”
“It’s a load of divs dressed in Ty die (sic) clothes banging clogs and blowing up balloons all with psycho smiles and crusty eyes and red wine mouths.”
A year earlier, his older brother criticised Glastonbury for “virtue-signalling”.
Speaking on a podcast, Noel, 59, said: “It’s getting a bit woke now, that place, and a bit kind of preachy and a bit virtue-signalling.
“I don’t like it in music – little f***** idiots waving flags around and making political statements, and bands taking the stage and saying, ‘Hey guys, isn’t war terrible, yeah? Let’s all boo war. F*** the Tories man,’ and all that.
“It’s like, look – play your f****** tunes and get off.”
The singer, who performed with his band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at Glastonbury in 2022, added: “Donate all your money to the cause – that’s it, stop yapping about it.
“Let’s just say for instance the world is in a bit of a f***** up place… what’s all the kids in a field at Glastonbury going to do about it?
“Everybody knows what’s going on in the f****** world, you’ve got a phone in your pocket that tells you anyway.
“What is the point of virtue-signalling?”
However, the Manchester City football fan did tell the podcast he loved the festival, calling it “probably the best f****** thing about Britain apart from the Premier League”.
Upcoming documentary on the reunion tour
Next month a documentary following the brothers on their Live 25 Tour will screen. Titled Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, it follows the Gallaghers across the tour that began in Cardiff in July last year.
It will be released in cinemas on September 9 and also on Disney Plus, with the streaming service saying it will highlight the “triumphant reunion tour” from rehearsals to backstage and onstage. It will also include the first joint interviews with Noel and Liam in over 20 years.
The Oasis reunion tour was announced in August 2024, 15 years after the brothers’ dramatic split in 2009, which was prompted by a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in France. The band have had eight number one singles and albums each in the UK charts, with Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Some Might Say among their best-known hits.
