Lewis Capaldi's Funniest Publicity Stunts: CapAldi, Pizzas, More

Chart-topper Lewis Capaldi often softens his gut-wrenching song lyrics with hilarious, tongue-in-cheek publicity stunts such as stripping to his underwear, downing a 'mega-pint' of Guinness and re-branding Aldi. Ahead of his two headlining shows at BST Hyde Park on Saturday and Sunday, we've put together our favourite moments from the hilarious Scot.

CapAldi

Lewis, 29, hilariously rebranded supermarket Aldi as 'CapAldi' when he performed a live impromptu gig on the roof of one of their stores in Nottingham. He sandwiched emotional hits such as Someone You Loved and Survive with jokes about the local produce, telling fans he's impressed with the "brioche buns, carrots – the lot".

British Airways Cabin Crew

Back in 2023, customers onboard a British Airways flight to Los Angeles had the shock of a lifetime when the superstar walked through the aisle with the cabin crew's drink trolley. After he was done making cups of tea, Lewis pulled out his guitar from the overhead lockers to perform Wish You The Best.

Billboard Wars

Unlike Taylor Swift, his fans don't have to go hunting for 'easter eggs'; Lewis has a history of teasing announcements with huge in-your-face billboards. In 2022 he stripped to his tighty-whities and joked about having 'sex appeal' to promote Forget Me, and a year later went viral when Netflix 'mistakenly' used a photo of a younger Liz Truss, instead of Lewis, to advertise his documentary.

The Tinder Campaign

It's no secret that Lewis has been incredibly unlucky in love, and in 2019 he teamed up with dating app Tinder in a desperate bid to end his run of bad luck. Lewis joked if he didn't find love soon he would be "resigned to a lifetime living at home with my mother."

Big Sexy Pizza

Whilst the rest of the world was baking banana bread, Lewis decided he would invest in something he's more interested in – pizzas. Ahead of announcing his second album, the star released a line of 'Big Sexy Pizzas' in 2022, which was sold in supermarkets across the UK. Lewis joked he had found his "true calling". He marked the launch by taking on one of Nell's Restaurant's iconic 22-inch pizzas.
