Jess Wright has issued an apology following widespread criticism over remarks made on her podcast, Wright At Home, where she, her mother Carol, and sister Natalya criticised women wearing thong bikinis. The former TOWIE star, 40, took to Instagram on Tuesday to express regret, stating: 'Our judgement was wrong and we take full accountability and will do better moving forward.'
The controversial comments, which have since been removed from social media, included Jess saying she 'can't stand how it's acceptable to walk around on the beach in a thong.' Her mother Carol added that such swimwear is 'not sexy for men to look at,' while Jess claimed her husband Will 'cannot stand it' and urged women to 'wear bigger coverage bikini bottoms.'
The remarks sparked a backlash on TikTok, with users calling them 'misogynistic' and 'degrading.' One user, Michelle Elman, wrote: 'Wear your string bikini because I don't care if it's a nudist beach, what you wear is none of Will's business.' Another, @NicoleGallagher, defended women's choice, saying: 'All power to the women who have the confidence to choose their style of bikini based on what they like.'
Jess, who is the sister of TV star Mark Wright, married husband Will in 2021 and they have a son, Presley. The apology was also shared on Carol and Natalya's accounts, with the family vowing to 'do better.'
