Lauren Goodger has revealed why she hasn’t told her daughter about her baby sister’s death. The TOWIE star gave birth to her second child, Lorena, with ex-boyfriend Charles Drury in 2022, but the infant tragically passed mere minutes post-birth due to her umbilical cord being wrapped around her neck. The 37-year-old former reality star is still grappling with grief.
Lauren also has a daughter, Larose, four, with builder Charles. On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, Lauren took part in a This Morning interview ahead of what would have been Lorena’s fourth birthday. During her appearance, she spoke about her book Mum Of Two: Love, Loss and My Life and opened up about why she hasn’t told Larose about Lorena’s passing.
Protecting Larose from Pain
Talking about her daughter Larose, Lauren told hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard: “She has kept me going.” Lauren then said: “She doesn’t know [about Lorena’s death] she has no idea what’s happened.”
Lauren explained: “Just because she’s still young and I don’t want her to feel any pain, she doesn’t need to, I’ll explain when she’s older but in a more positive way.” The reality star then shared: “We do celebrate her [Lorena] anniversary with Larose, we let off balloons and she thinks it's for her.”
Life After Loss
While on This Morning, Lauren also made a sad admission about how life has changed for her following the loss of Lorena. She said: “It was the worst thing I have ever been through. I’m still not over it. It’s completely changed me as a person.
“I’m still healing and getting my confidence back and loads of things in my personal life have changed. Little things like I go to bed really early, I don’t drink alcohol. I really find it really hard to socialise.”
Lauren went on: “I’m coming out of that now. But even today’s the first day where I got in a taxi on my own because I can’t. I just have this severe anxiety.”
Final Hours with Lorena
Previously speaking about her final 24 hours with Lorena, she revealed to OK! magazine: "I just spent the night looking at her and touching her. I held her hands and her little feet. I spoke to her and told her I loved her and all about Larose."
"She just looked so perfect and beautiful and I couldn’t stop taking photos of her. For those 24 hours it was just beautiful to be with her. I didn’t want to let her go."
This Morning airs Monday to Friday at 10am on ITV1.
