Lauren Goodger broke down in tears as she revealed she wants to become a mother again, years after the tragic death of her newborn baby and two miscarriages.
The 39-year-old reality TV star, known for her role in The Only Way Is Essex (TOWIE), gave birth to her second child with ex-boyfriend Charles Drury in 2022. The baby died moments after birth due to lack of oxygen, with the umbilical cord having "two knots in it".
Less than a week after the devastating loss, Charles ended their relationship, telling her he no longer loved her. Lauren, who shares daughter Larose with him, is not done with parenthood and got emotional as she discussed her plans, including the possibility of using a sperm donor.
Emotional TOWIE scenes
In an upcoming scene for TOWIE, she burst into tears at Sophie Kasaei's mother's blessing ceremony. Pregnant Sophie held sobbing Lauren tight and told her: "You're allowed to cry, you've gone through so much, you know. And you stay so strong."
Lauren said she couldn't wait to meet Sophie's baby, telling her: "I'm just like enjoying this through you as well." When asked if she wants another child, Lauren responded: "I do, yeah." As she wiped away tears, she was told another baby is "pending".
Sophie then told her: "How you can sit there for me and be strong for me with all the other girls and support me after what you've been through. Like you know, I'm so grateful for you for being there for us as well. Thank you."
Struggles and support
Describing that period of her life as "horrendous", Lauren explained that she considered taking her own life, but the thought of her eldest child, Larose, stopped her.
"I was suffering panic attacks at night, terrified of dying and leaving Larose on her own. I still get them. I felt suicidal. I have done so since. If it wasn't for Larose I can honestly say I wouldn't be here," she told The Sun.
"I realised that night it was the end of us. I felt terrified being upstairs on my own with a one-year-old while my Lorena was downstairs in the living room in her casket. That night was the weirdest, most terrified and lonely I've ever felt."
She added: "Charlie and I had a toxic, trauma bond. After that, although we were actually separated, I fell pregnant again, twice to him, and then miscarried. We finally split for good in 2024. Now we are no longer in a toxic place. We co-parent, go on holiday and nice days out. It's been the hardest role I have ever had to play, but I do it for my daughter."
Lauren came to fame in 2010 when she appeared in the first season of TOWIE, alongside Mark Wright, Sam Faiers, Amy Childs, James Argent and Kirk Norcross. After a lengthy exit, she returned to the show in 2023. She has since written a new book, Mum Of Two: Love, Loss and My Life on Towie.
