Britain's Got Talent judge KSI has broken his silence following the tragic death of his 'bro' Oliver Tree. The 32-year-old singer was among six people found dead in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after a horrific helicopter crash.
According to Brazilian officials, the incident occurred around 9:00 in the western zone of Rio, in Recreio dos Bandeirantes. None of the passengers and pilots survived. Preliminary information indicates the helicopters collided mid-air before crashing into a vehicle yard on Avenida das Américas, with at least six cars engulfed in fire. One aircraft exploded upon impact, while the other crashed approximately one hundred meters away.
In the wake of the devastating news, KSI led tributes, sharing an emotional social media post. The ITV star wrote: 'Can't believe I'm actually having to type this. You're 32, man. You should still be here.'
The rapper added: 'You still had so much life to live. So much music to make. So much content to make. You're a legend and will always be a legend. Still doesn't feel real. Genuinely feel sick. I love you bro.'
Oliver, who shot to stardom after a string of viral hits, was in Brazil for a world tour, having performed in São Paulo recently. He was also scheduled to take the stage across Europe in the coming weeks.
He was found dead alongside Argentine YouTuber Gaspi, born Gaspar Prim Díaz, who had amassed over 75 million views and 2.8 million subscribers on his YouTube channel launched in December 2013. Other victims include Lucas Vignale, Lucas Brito Chaves, and pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.
Oliver was also remembered by other famous faces, including Diplo, who wrote: 'When people ask me who my dream collaborator is, I never gave the right answer. I might say something obvious, or anyone with a good personality. But it is, and always will be, Oliver Tree.'
The American DJ fondly remembered the singer as 'cooler than everyone', adding his death 'doesn't feel real.' Diplo continued: 'I don't think we'll ever have another human like this again. No rules. No apologies. He was 1000% himself and on a mission to add more joy to this music scene.'
An investigation is under way to determine the exact cause of the crash.
