Kourtney Kardashian reveals miscarriage months into Travis relationship

Kourtney Kardashian Barker has revealed that months into her relationship with Travis Barker, she suffered a miscarriage. The couple started dating in 2020 following several years of friendship, due to living in the same neighbourhood in Calabasas, California.

Devastating Loss Revealed

Travis, 50, instantly fell "madly in love" with his third wife, Kourtney, 47. Months into their relationship, Kourtney fell pregnant with Travis, saying they had felt blessed by the news. The couple had been expecting a baby girl and had told their relatives and friends about their pregnancy. However, sadly, a three-month scan revealed that their daughter had no heartbeat.

Speaking in a trailer for Travis' new documentary, Louder Than Fear, Kourtney said: "When we lost the baby, we were devastated. We cried for days." Businesswoman Kourtney also revealed that the couple had been planning to name their daughter Tulip.

Why They Shared Their Story

Speaking about why they have decided to speak publicly about their devastating loss, Blink-182 drummer Travis said: "When there's things that can benefit people or help people relate to something, I think that's always like a green light, especially — she’s always trying to do something like that."

Speaking on The New York Times' Popcast, Travis went on to add: "Our journey of miscarriages and then IVF and it's failed, resulting in us having a baby naturally — like I feel like that's a story that so many people can relate [to]." But when he was quizzed on why he and Kourtney chose not to share their story on her family reality show, The Kardashians, he explained that the interview style of his own documentary made it easier for them to share such a heartbreaking story.

Travis said: "The way the documentary happens is through a series of interviews. I'll say something, and then they're like, 'Oh, well, tell me more about that', and that's how that came up."

Family Background and New Beginnings

The couple welcomed their son, Rocky, naturally in November 2023, following five unsuccessful rounds of IVF and three oocyte retrievals, which remove oocytes from the ovaries, enabling fertilisation outside the body. Kourtney shares sons Mason, 16, Reign, 11, and daughter Penelope, 14, with her ex-partner, Scott Disick. While Travis shares son Landon, 22 and daughter Alabama, 20, with his ex-wife, Shanna Moakler. He's also close to his stepdaughter, Atiana De La Hoya, the daughter of Shanna and boxing star Oscar De La Hoya.

Speaking last year about how the two families have adjusted to living under one roof, Kourtney said on an episode of The Kardashians: "I feel like blending, in the beginning, is a lot of adjusting for each person." Us in their space and then us being out of our space and into a new space. But it's really good, but I do want to get this going. And my stepkids have lived in their home for their whole lives. It's new, all living together in one house, which is nice. It is change, but I think we're at a really amazing place with it."

Travis' Documentary

Travis' upcoming documentary is set to focus on the devastating plane crash he was involved in, which saw two of his friends, Chris Baker and Che Still and two pilots tragically die. On September 19, 2008, the Learjet 60 smashed through a fence at South Carolina airport, ran across a road and collided with an embankment on the far side after a tyre blew out and burst into flames. Following the crash, Travis vowed he would never get on a plane again. However, in 2021, he took his first flight in over a decade alongside his wife.

Travis Baker: Louder Than Fear airs on Hulu and Disney+ on August 13. If you have been affected by this story, advice and support can be found at the Miscarriage Association. You can call them on 01924 200799 or email info@miscarriageassociation.org.uk
