Davina Morley, the former girlfriend of King Charles who was once considered his "soulmate" and a possible future Queen, has died at the age of 75. Her death on September 2 was announced by her family.
A romance that began in 1976
Her relationship with the King, then Prince of Wales, began in 1976, and she was considered one of his "English Roses". After the pair were seen attending a wedding together, they were tipped for marriage. She was also pictured with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at an equestrian event.
Born Davina Sheffield, she was the granddaughter of Lord McGowan, the Scottish industrialist who led Imperial Chemical Industries for two decades. She was also a cousin of Samantha Cameron, the wife of the former Tory Prime Minister, Lord Cameron. The Sheffield family lineage traces back to King Charles II.
Family and legacy
Morley died with her three sons, Tom, Billy and Henry, at her side. Her family revealed that a celebration of her life will take place in November at her local church near her beloved home in the Cotswolds.
Her husband, Jake, died in April 2022 at the age of 80. They married in 1981, the same year Charles wed Princess Diana. The couple went on to have three sons: Thomas, born in 1983, William in 1984 and Henry in 1987. She is also survived by two stepsons, Dominic and Sebastian, from Mr Morley's first marriage.
