Kieran Hayler, the ex-husband of Katie Price, has issued an apology to her daughter Princess Andre following comments the teenager made on her new reality TV show. Princess, 18, spoke about the aftermath of her mother's separation from Kieran, describing it as 'hard' and saying she was exposed to 'adulty things that kids should never see'.
Kieran, who was a stepfather to Princess and her siblings during his marriage to Katie, told the Daily Mail that the situation makes him 'feel so sad'. He said: 'I am as sorry as I can be to Princess witnessing us go through such a horrible separation. Leaving them was one of the hardest things I ever had to do.' He added that he would 'love to apologise' to her in person.
The 38-year-old, who split from Katie in 2018 after cheating on her, acknowledged that the breakdown of a marriage 'rocks' the world of any children involved. He said he 'made sure' to keep in touch with his stepchildren after the separation but admitted the bond 'disappears over time', and he no longer has a role in their lives.
Kieran expressed regret over his relationship with Katie but suggested that some issues should be 'kept private' from children. He said: 'I regret the way things happened but at the same time those are issues I never put around the children, they were put around the children by everything becoming so public.' He added that the family weren't able to 'get away from it' as it often gets 'dragged up'.
Princess, who shares the reality show with her brother Junior, said on the launch episode: 'He was in our lives for like five years so we got really close to him... when they split up everything kind of went downhill. My mum, obviously being heartbroken, didn't deal with that the best way.' She also discussed crying amid press coverage in the aftermath.
