US singer Kehlani has been forced to cancel two concerts after being rushed to hospital. The 31-year-old, known for tracks such as Gangsta, Folded and Nights Like This, said she is in "so much pain" in an update to fans on Instagram on Wednesday (August 26).
Hospital update and cancelled shows
Kehlani posted two images from a medical examination room alongside a message which read: "After two off days feeling completely normal, I've been up all night unable to swallow and in so much pain.
"I just left the hospital and am not cleared to sing for the next two shows. I'm so sorry Camden and DC. My team is working on a solution. Breaks my heart to have to ever do this."
Kehlani added: "I do everything I'm supposed to, to ensure my health stays up to par and it still isn't guaranteed. We will pick back up in Virginia."
Tour impact and upcoming dates
The Grammy-winning singer is currently on the North American leg of her self-titled world tour, which kicked off in the summer. She was due to perform at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland on Thursday.
In a message on the Ticketmaster website, it says "the organiser has had to postpone" the event and urges fans to "please hold onto your tickets as they will be valid for the new date".
Kehlani is expected to perform at the Allianz Amphitheater at Riverfront in Richmond, Virginia, on Saturday. She heads to Europe later this year with dates in London and Manchester in December.
Career background
Kehlani rose to fame as the lead vocalist for pop group PopLyfe on America's Got Talent in 2011, and went on to launch a successful R&B career. She is known for tracks such as Distraction, Honey, Toxic and Up All Night, and has collaborated with artists including Justin Bieber, Cardi B, Missy Elliott and Ty Dolla Sign.
Her hit song Gangsta featured in 2016 film Suicide Squad, starring Margot Robbie and Will Smith. Kehlani has also received seven Grammy nominations and two wins.
