Katie Price has said she is prepared to end her marriage to Lee Andrews after the businessman finally admitted he has a travel ban. Andrews, who is detained at Al Awir Central Prison in Dubai, was arrested last month over reported fraud allegations and faces an apparent £100,000 fine to be released.
The 48-year-old former glamour model visited Andrews three times during her trip to Dubai and spoke to him by phone across a barbed wire wall. She challenged him over videos in which he claimed to be at an airport preparing to fly to the UK. "The big deal is, you keep videoing, saying you're at the airport, and you're coming to England, and you don't turn up," she told The Sun.
Price also met Andrews' ex-partner Dina Taji, who warned her about him face-to-face. Taji has accused Andrews of taking out a £200,000 mortgage in her name without her knowledge, which he denies. After the meeting, Price said: "My eyes have been opened." She added that she is "not a mug" and will question him when they finally meet in person, saying: "If the answers I get are not right, that will be it: I'll be done."
It emerged that Price was prepared to pay £6,500 to secure Andrews' release but was told £140,000 is needed. Sources said the previously bankrupt star, who married Andrews in January days after meeting him, is hesitant to provide the money. A source told the Daily Mail: "Katie is in pieces. To the outside world she wants to keep up the bravado. But inside she can't believe how Lee has made her look."
Andrews was reported missing for two weeks before being located in the Dubai prison. He told Price he had been "bundled into a van" at the border on suspicion of espionage, but he was detained for a "private civil matter". Price's representative declined to comment when contacted by The Standard.
