Katie Price has expressed her deep concern that her son Harvey could suffer a heart attack, as he now weighs just under 30 stone. Harvey, 24, has Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes constant hunger and can lead to severe obesity. He is also autistic and blind.
Heartbreaking struggles
Speaking on Andrew Gold's Heretics podcast, Katie said: "I’m not worried about his eyesight. What I’m worried about is him having a heart attack, his obesity. He weighs just under 30 stone." She described watching him try to get in and out of the bath as "heartbreaking" and revealed she had attempted to start him on Mounjaro, a diabetes drug used for weight loss.
She explained: "I’ve tried going private with him to start him on Mounjaro, but because of his medical… it’s easy for me to just give it, but because of his other medication, you have to have all the team tick it off."
High risk warning
Katie disclosed that Harvey is now at "high risk of having a heart attack," adding: "It’s getting to a point now, where he doesn’t want to walk anywhere, he gets out of breath and sweats and they have said he is at high risk of having a heart attack. You try to [force him to walk] but he literally breaks into a sweat. I bath him twice a day and it breaks my heart seeing him get in and out of the bath because he’s so big and heavy."
Despite the seriousness, Harvey, known for his uncensored comments, often jokes about his size. Katie shared: "He goes: ‘I’m like a humpback whale’, and I’m like: 'No you’re not Harv, I love you’." When asked if he ever gets upset about his weight, she said he doesn't, noting he compares his belly to Santa's and makes random comments in shops, like calling someone a "fat pepper pig" and then apologizing with "sorry, d***head."
A mother's care
Katie also revealed the extent of care Harvey requires, calling him a "baby in a man's body." She said: "He’s 24 and he’s a baby, he doesn’t know about hygiene, he’s on medication four times a day and he’ll die if he doesn’t have it. I have to bath him or wash him because he doesn’t understand. When I go to the toilet I have to wipe his bum, he wets the bed, he’s a baby in a man’s body."
