Katie Price has denied claims that she "hijacked" her daughter Princess's moment at the National Television Awards, responding to criticism over her dramatic red carpet appearance. The 48-year-old mother of five attended the ceremony on Tuesday evening alongside Princess, 19, and son Junior, 21.
Price's bold look, created with make-up influencer Made By Mitchell, featured heavy glittery eyeliner, lipliner, and gelled-back hair, paired with a white shirt, high-waisted lacy hot pants, tights, and heels. The outfit sparked accusations that she was trying to steal the spotlight from her teenage daughter.
Price hits back at criticism
Speaking on her podcast, The Katie Price Show, Price said: "I saw a headline this morning about 'Katie Price hijacks Princess's red carpet appearance.' I'm like, 'Oh, for f***'s sake'. Like, I didn't hijack at all. They both had individual pictures, and then they wanted a little family picture, that's it."
She also addressed claims that she skipped interviews to join her children: "And not only that, they said I skipped all the interviews to get to Junior and Princess. Skipped? We said we weren't doing interviews!"
Price, who recently split from husband Lee Andrews, added: "And what am I going to do if I see my kids on the red carpet and they see me? What, are we going to stay away from each other? Why do people pick up on it? If it was anyone else, they wouldn't care."
Advice and reaction to the look
Price also discussed advising Princess on her dress choice for the event, suggesting she wear something "completely different" to make her "look like a princess." Although Princess was initially reluctant, she followed the advice. Price said: "She loved it, and got so many comments about it. So thanks to Mommy, Princess listened to me, and I thought she looked amazing. Junior's just handsome anyway."
Addressing her dramatic make-up, Price praised Mitchell for covering the swelling on her face, saying: "As you get older or lose weight, the side of your temples tend to cave in, like they go hollow under your eyes. So he put some filler in here, and my face - I didn't know it would swell up like this." She added: "I said [Mitchell] could do whatever he wants, he did an amazing job covering all this up. I thought he was brilliant, so good."
Price concluded: "But obviously when you have makeup like this, if you're in the wrong light, it can look proper plastered on. Which is sad... But do you know what? In the right light and in life, I loved it, and everyone commented about it, and I loved how I looked. It's exactly what I wanted. Mission accomplished."
Further backlash and reaction
A source had previously told the Mirror that Price had been "stalking" her daughter on the red carpet, ready to pounce for a joint photo. Princess has since left her mum out of photos shared on Instagram from the night, posting only pictures with her brother and others of herself in her blue gown.
Price's make-up artist has also faced criticism over his work, with drag queen Jay Colby commenting: "I respect you and your artistry but let me remind you.. you're a white man painting another white women 10x darker than she actually is. You will get feedback and that feedback isn't 'unkindness' it isn't 'bullying' it's calling you out for basically painting another white woman in blackface." Colby added: "I was looking through the comments and 90% of the people giving you feedback and how unhappy they are with what you did were majority black women. Sit down, listen, and learn. I get you're passionate about your artistry but this is far beyond that. Like you said it's 2026, then wake up."
