Princess Kate's Friendship with Harriet Sperling Contrasts Meghan Relationship
Kate's Bond with Harriet Sperling Contrasts Meghan Ties

Princess Kate's friendship with Harriet Sperling offers a stark contrast to her relationship with her estranged sister-in-law, Meghan Markle. According to Charlotte Griffiths, Editor-at-Large for the Mail on Sunday, Kate's recent show of support for Sperling at her wedding to Peter Phillips was "unheard of," and a sign of a "modern monarchy."

Royal Show of Unity at Wedding

Appearing on GB News on Sunday, Griffiths explained: "I was actually quite surprised to see Catherine going in the front door of the church, and the King, really, because often the very, very senior royals, they know that they steal the limelight from the bride, so they tend to sneak in through the back."

"But, as you can see in this image here, they actually all colour-coordinated their outfits. There was a pale yellow theme. Camilla wore pale yellow, and Catherine wore a pale yellow Roland Mouret dress."

Unprecedented Move for Senior Royals

"This sort of thing would've been unheard of," Griffiths continued. "It's a real, blended, modern monarchy these days. This would have been unheard of. Don't forget, you know, Wallis Simpson wasn't allowed to marry into the family, Princess Margaret wasn't allowed to marry a divorcé, so I thought the fact that they went through the front door was a sort of show of unity and a modern monarchy kind of thing to do."

She added: "It obviously shows that Catherine is close with Harriet - the bride - because Harriet didn't mind her going in and stealing the limelight. In the end, she didn't really steal the limelight because it was all just happy families."

Wedding Details and Guest List

Held at All Saints Church in Kemble, Gloucestershire, on Saturday, Phillips - the son of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips - married NHS nurse Sperling. Surrounded by members of the Royal Family, the guest list also included Prince William, Zara and Mike Tindall, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, who were both joined by their husbands.

Harry and Meghan Not Invited

Last week, a friend of Peter Phillips confirmed that Harry and Meghan were not invited, saying, "Peter and Harry haven't spoken for several years and have simply lost touch, so he hasn't been invited."
