Kate Garraway made a candid confession about her love life during a live broadcast of Good Morning Britain, revealing she has had two weddings with two different men. The admission came during a discussion about weddings on the ITV show, leaving her co-star Adil Ray visibly stunned.
Unexpected Revelation on Air
While chatting with Adil Ray, entertainment reporter Rishi Davda, Bobby Seagull, and Saira Khan, the conversation turned to how many weddings people should have, sparked by reports that Hollywood stars Tom Holland and Zendaya had celebrated with a second ceremony. When Adil asked Kate about her own weddings, she said: “I’ve had two weddings but by two different people.”
Her unexpected admission left Adil speechless, and Kate immediately realized she had shared a deeply personal detail on live television. “I can’t believe I just said that out loud on television, but it’s the truth. It’s the truth,” she joked.
Kate's Marital History
Kate’s first marriage was to television producer Ian Rumsey in 1998, which ended in divorce in 2002. She later married political adviser Derek Draper in 2005, with whom she had two children, Darcey and Billy. Their relationship became a widely followed love story after Derek suffered life-changing health complications from Covid-19, with Kate openly sharing the emotional challenges of caring for him.
Derek sadly died in January 2024, leaving Kate and their children to face an unimaginable loss. Kate explained that she and Derek had marked their marriage with more than one event, holding a celebration in London and another in Chorley to include Derek’s large extended family.
Multiple Weddings and New Romance
Discussing the idea of multiple weddings, Kate agreed that each celebration can hold its own special meaning. Rishi Davda also praised the idea, noting that couples often want to celebrate with different groups of loved ones.
This comes amid reports that Kate has found love again with broadcaster Liam Halligan, whom she has known for over twenty years. She has reportedly been seen enjoying his company in Saffron Walden, Essex, where she joined him at The Railway Arms pub as he performed with his band, The Hooligans.
