Kate Garraway left her Good Morning Britain co-star Adil Ray stunned after making an unexpected confession about her romantic history live on air.
Two weddings, two different people
The presenter returned to screens on Friday (August 7) alongside Adil Ray, presenting the day's top stories. During a segment on weddings, the team discussed how many weddings people should have, following reports that Hollywood couple Tom Holland and Zendaya had a second wedding in Surrey.
Adil joked that British Asians celebrate weddings for three months and insisted 250 people would be considered a small wedding. Saira Khan revealed she had a fusion wedding, combining traditions from her South Asian background and her husband Steve's Essex roots.
Turning to Kate, Adil asked: "It's two weddings too much? How many weddings did you have?"
Kate revealed: "I've had two weddings but by two different people." Adil replied: "Oh, okay, cool. Thanks for that. Thanks for the clarity."
Kate gasped: "I can't believe I just said that out loud on television, but it's the truth. It's the truth."
Kate's wedding history
The presenter has been married twice. Her first marriage was to television producer Ian Rumsey in 1998, ending in divorce in 2002. She later married political adviser Derek Draper in 2005, with whom she shared two children, Darcey and Billy.
Derek's long battle with Covid-19 complications was widely documented by Kate, and he sadly died in January 2024.
Rishi Davda commented: "It's lovely to have more than one wedding and especially if the first one is incredibly intimate and private, and just friends and family. You want a chance to celebrate with everybody and have that party and, you know, dance until the early hours. I think the more the merrier."
Kate added: "When Derek and I got married, we did have a do in London, and then we had a Chorley do because his dad was one of 12, and it just got bigger and bigger and bigger."
