Kate Garraway was left red in the face on Good Morning Britain as she attempted to sneak back into the studio without being caught after returning late from a bathroom break.
Late return from break
Thursday (30 July) morning’s episode saw Garraway and her co-host Adil Ray talking through major news stories before chatting to Strictly Come Dancing stars Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu. As the show returned from an advert break, the camera showed Gu and Dowden on the sofa opposite Ray, with Garraway absent.
Ray began quizzing the dancers about their upcoming appearance on Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted, where pairs go on the run for Stand Up To Cancer. After about a minute, Dowden said “Morning” to Garraway, who had tried to sneak onto the sofa.
Garraway's excuse
Garraway admitted: “I took a little bit too long in the shower and the loo,” to which Ray joked: “She hasn’t heard about the drought and the short showers. It’s alright, we’re here now.” Garraway said “So sorry,” struggling to hold back laughter.
The live breakfast programme has seen other on-air blunders. Days earlier, a reporter was caught yawning on camera during an outside broadcast. On Friday (24 July), Garraway and co-host Rob Rinder were discussing Edinburgh’s tourist levy when a man appeared in the background and made a reverse V-sign.
Garraway addressed the incident: “Just to say, Jane, you won’t be aware because you were talking so elegantly to us with the gorgeous vision of Edinburgh behind. But somebody came past doing a rather rude gesture. So, if you’re watching at home and you saw, that is no reflection on Jane or indeed Edinburgh.”
