Escape to the Country star Jules Hudson has a heartwarming bond with his 11-year-old son, Jack, who he shares with wife Tania Fitzgerald. The BBC presenter, who lives in a 16th-century property in Herefordshire, often shares glimpses of their time together on social media.
DIY Adventures Together
In a recent Instagram post, Jules shared a clip from one of their DIY sessions, captioning it: "Like father, like son! We are happiest when we are making and fixing." The father-son duo clearly enjoy tackling projects together.
Jules, who became a father in his 40s, admitted that having children wasn't always on his radar. Speaking on the Talking Success podcast with his friend and co-star Nicki Chapman, he was asked to name his "best moment ever."
A Father's Revelation
Jules recalled the moment he truly connected with Jack: "I think probably when my son Jack finally recognised that I was his father and made a noise and looked at me with his eyes that said to me, I finally have a role in this relationship. He was probably 18 months or something."
He added: "To be honest with you, I never looked forward to having children; it wasn't on my radar at all. But having Jack now and watching life unfold through the prism of his eyes and his mind and helping him learn about the world around him and understanding how we learn has been one of life's greatest revelations to me."
Balancing Family and Career
While Jules, Tania, and Jack keep a low profile in Herefordshire, the Countryfile favourite has spoken about the challenges of balancing family life with his busy career. He told the Express: "Anybody with any busy life will tell you that the balance between your working life and family life can be tricky. I've got a young son, we've got our own life here in Herefordshire that is very dear to us, so you know, trying to balance it all can be difficult, but it's a partnership, it's a team effort through the family."
He concluded: "It's not easy, but that's the trouble every family in the country faces, let's be honest, you just have to work hard and play."
