The former Chelsea and England captain's surprise appearance at Wembley Stadium on Friday was met with a chorus of boos as he joined Luke Combs on stage for the singer's beer shotgun ritual.
The 45-year-old made a cameo during the opening night of Combs's three-night residency, stepping out in front of a crowd of around 90,000. As he embraced the 36-year-old American singer, boos rang out alongside cheers, and continued as the pair downed pints of beer.
Beer cans and a quick exit
After finishing, Combs launched his empty can into the side of the stage, while Terry kicked his into the crowd. The two shared a quick hug before Combs returned to performing his hit "1, 2 Many" and Terry quietly left the stage.
For the cameo, Terry wore a white T-shirt, navy trousers and a flat cap.
Fans react
The moment quickly became a talking point on social media, with many fans saying it felt uncomfortable. One wrote: "Got booed by the whole of the stadium, quite awkward tbh, both for him and Luke." Another commented: "I didn't know who he was, but he's got booed where I was stood."
A third added: "Oh no Luke. This ain’t the one." Others echoed that reaction, writing: "It didn't go down very well," while another joked: "I guess Luke didn't realise JT's popularity in the UK." One fan simply quipped: "Someone sounds popular..."

Family time
Away from football, Terry has been enjoying family life with wife Toni. The couple recently shared highlights from a trip to the United States with their 20-year-old twins, Summer and Georgie, while England were at the World Cup. The family visited New York, Boston and Miami, taking in sightseeing, fishing, baseball games and time relaxing on the water.
That holiday came just weeks after the pair celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary. Toni marked the occasion with her own tribute: "Happy Anniversary Mr T. 19 years married. I love all the amazing memories we have made over the years together and with our beautiful family. You're my world and I love you."
The couple married at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire in June 2007 in a ceremony reportedly costing close to £1 million.
