Singer John Newman, known for collaborations with Calvin Harris, Sigala and Rudimental, has shared the unusual requests he makes before taking the stage. While celebrities often ask for favourite drinks or snacks in their dressing rooms, John's are more obscure.
He exclusively told Daily Star: "Disposal cameras, Calvin Kleins and magnesium cream. They are weird but I don't drink, so there are no bottles of tequila and my low ego reduces me to not only ask for blue skittles!"
EXIT Festival performance
John will perform his brand new live show exclusively at EXIT to Montenegro this weekend (28th-30th August) and is clearly excited. He told us: "It's been crazy with new music out and a lot of shows. It feels like this new show and hybrid era is really taking off, which is so exciting after so much work!"
As for why he chose to perform at this year's EXIT Festival, he explained: "They are family, they are energetic, we are the perfect match so I wanted to show them the new show early. I think it's worth mentioning it's not all brass bands and loafers again though."
Reinvention and new music
"I am addicted to reinvention and will continue to throughout my career, it's exciting, fresh and very heavy in parts, but I needed a new challenge and hope people realise and appreciate my experimentation in my artistic form."
"I hope they see it's okay to release the boundaries some times and not keep artists in the lanes that it works in their head because they want the person that was on the poster of their bedroom wall."
John has been working towards this moment with "a run of underplay shows in London," followed by "a huge show at Tomorrowland's Freedom stage" and "hundreds of hours designing the tech set up". The chart-topping singer promised that he and his team will be "putting the throttle down on this show".
John, best-known for hits Love Me Again, Merry Go, Come and Get It, Blame and Feel the Love, is currently working on his alias project SIX40TWO and has promised brand new music: "I also thought it was time to deliver an album so that's coming quickly round the corner!"
