In her statement, Grimes alleged that persistent trolls on Reddit have been promoting white supremacy and Nazi ideology, and have been stalking and harassing her family and friends. She claimed that Reddit has refused to respond to her concerns about these accounts.
The controversy comes amid ongoing scrutiny of her ex-partner Elon Musk, who made a gesture at Donald Trump's inauguration that many compared to a Nazi salute. Grimes previously stated she would not be held accountable for Musk's actions, saying, 'I am not him.'
Grimes assured fans she would work harder to deal with the problematic accounts, writing, 'I very much denounce Nazi-ism and white supremacy. I am sorry I did not realize the extent of the issue.'
