Actress Joely Richardson has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late sister, Natasha Richardson, on what would have been her 62nd birthday. Natasha, a celebrated British stage and screen star, died in March 2009 at age 45 from a head injury sustained in a skiing accident in Quebec. She was married to actor Liam Neeson.
Joely's Instagram Tribute
On Monday, 11 May, the 61-year-old Nip/Tuck star took to Instagram to share a series of photos of Natasha and Neeson together. In her post, she wrote: "11th of May is forever my sister's birthday, even though she left this earthly plane 17 years ago. All these pictures are in public domaine (screen shot), and with the recent 90s revival they kept popping up on my phone."
Joely described Natasha's wedding to Neeson in 1994 as one of the happiest moments of her sister's life. She said: "The day Tasha married Liam Neeson was one of the happiest of her life (the tenderness of her upward gaze). She couldn't believe it, and we danced 'til dawn. Oh the glamour of this couple, their warmth and humour. I love the last photo as it's full of mischief, and utterly her. Seize the day, she did."
Family and Later Life
Neeson and Natasha had two sons, Micheál and Daniel. Following Natasha's death, Neeson was linked to business executive Freya St Johnston, but they separated in 2012 after two years. In a 2024 interview with People magazine, Neeson said he was not dating anyone, stating: "No, in a word. I'm past all that."
In March, Natasha's first husband, The Hours producer Robert Fox, passed away from prostate cancer at age 73. Fox and Natasha were married from 1990 to 1992.
