Joely Richardson has paid an emotional tribute to her late sister Natasha Richardson, marking what would have been her 62nd birthday. Natasha, who died in a skiing accident in 2009 at the age of 45, married actor Liam Neeson in the summer of 1994. The couple had two sons together, Micheál and Daniel.
Sharing a carousel of public domain images on Instagram, Joely, 61, wrote that the day Natasha married Neeson was “one of the happiest of her life”. She recalled the “tenderness of her upward gaze” and added that they “danced til’ dawn”. The post was set to Sibelius’ Symphony No. 5, a piece the sisters both loved.
Joely described the couple’s “glamour”, “warmth” and “humour”, and noted one photo was “full of mischief, and utterly her. Seize the day, she did.” Fans responded with messages of love, remembering Natasha’s beauty and the couple’s joy.
The actress has previously shared memories of her older sister, including a set of childhood photos in November. In that post, she recalled how Natasha was her protector despite their squabbles, and expressed how much she misses her as she ages. “Scintillate away, dear loved ones, we all move together,” she wrote.
