Joanna Page has hit out at her husband James Thornton for acting like her “fifth child” during a family holiday row. The Gavin & Stacey star, 49, said James watched as she packed the children’s swimming bags before a day by the pool.
“Have I got to do everything?”
The couple, married for 23 years and parents to four children, aired the dispute on Joanna’s podcast Lush!. James opened the discussion by asking: “Do you want to talk about the argument that we had on holiday?”
Joanna explained that she had been packing the bags while James leant against a dressing table. She had asked him to clean their daughter’s teeth, but the child started crying, and she went in to do it herself.
She said: “After doing that (packing the bags), saying to you, ‘Can you just go and get her teeth cleaned?’ She starts crying. I’m like, ‘For goodness sake, have I got to do everything?’”
She added: “So I go in, I am then cleaning her teeth, get her sorted. I then go back, finish packing these three bags. I look and the kids and everybody are just waiting for me.”
“Like a fifth child”
Describing the scene, she told James: “And then you are just leaning against where the desk is in the dressing table sort of bit, leaning just against that waiting as well, like a fifth child waiting for me to finish packing three bags before we can all go downstairs!”
The row follows a previous argument over whether the family should move to Spain. Joanna said: “I now want to move to Spain. I say it every year.” James agreed, and she argued: “Why can’t we just go ‘come on, let’s up sticks’. What’s holding you back? We’re all going to die one day. Let’s just all move to Mallorca.”
James replied: “You’d have to travel back here to work?” Joanna said she would “just be nipping back and forth” to keep work trips short.
During that conversation, she also snapped at him: “Don’t interrupt me, I know you’re about to interrupt me… let me finish my sentence!”
According to reports, Joanna is in talks with ITV bosses to take part in the next series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!
