Jimmy Kimmel reignited his long-running playful feud with Matt Damon during the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday. The host asked Jessica Chastain: "Was it difficult filming your movie The Martian because your co-star Matt Damon can’t read and smells like dog medicine?" Chastain laughed and replied she had few scenes with him.
The lighthearted rivalry began in 2005 on Jimmy Kimmel Live! when Kimmel joked they ran out of time to interview Damon. The bit became a staple, with Kimmel apologising at the end of every show. Damon has played along, including a 2008 music video "I'm F***ing Matt Damon" with Kimmel's then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman.
Kimmel responded with "I'm F***ing Ben Affleck," featuring Damon's collaborator. At the show's 20th-anniversary episode, Kimmel again apologised, and a pre-recorded Damon was shown yelling in frustration. The feud remains a running gag between the two stars.
