Jesy Nelson has posted a mysterious song on Instagram with cryptic lyrics after former bandmate Perrie Edwards labelled her "difficult." The 35-year-old quit Little Mix at the end of 2020, citing a need to work on her mental health.
Jesy's decision to leave the group left Perrie, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock to continue as a trio. They eventually went on a break two years later but are considering a potential reunion.
In her recent Amazon Prime documentary, Jesy opened up about her departure, revealing she had not spoken to her fellow performers since leaving the group. Last week, Perrie confronted her, urging her to "take some accountability" for her own behaviour.
Jesy has not directly responded to Perrie's comments but instead shared snippets of her sun-drenched birthday holiday on social media. On Monday (June 15), she posted a video of herself striking poses in a bikini while enjoying her travels, according to the Mirror.
She did not include a caption but set the clip to the song I'm Learning by The Silent Partner featuring IVEY.H. The post was quickly filled with heart and flame emojis from fans, but her musical choice may raise questions over the enigmatic lyrics.
The verse states: "I fold my heart like a letter I'll never send, read it alone then I start again. I rehearse love in a silent room but freeze when it's real and you step too soon."
The day before, Jesy shared a series of photos in the same outfit with the caption: "Whatever will chapter 35 bring." The holiday comes just days after Perrie spoke candidly about Jesy's explosive departure from Little Mix, describing her as "difficult."
Jesy previously said she felt unsupported during her mental health battles while in the band and claimed she felt isolated at times. However, speaking on the Good Company podcast, Perrie told host Jamie Laing that she felt misjudged by the comments.
She said: "I have to be careful how I say this as I don't want to seem like a b****. But, for me, what upsets me the most is when situations like this happen and the other person doesn't take any accountability, that boils my blood!"
"I am not blaming everything on you, I am not saying that she's this f****** monster and everything was her fault, blah, blah, blah. But take some accountability for your actions and realise you were difficult, you did have difficult moments."
She added: "Granted there were reasons for those moments but you can only pick someone up so many f****** times before you start losing track of your own sanity." She also dismissed any possibility of reconciliation, adding: "If I am being completely transparent, part of me wanted to until the documentary, and then part of me withdrew again."
"I am not a horrible person, I haven't got a bad bone in my body but I can cut you off. I can cut you out of my life like that, if you upset me and hurt me in a way, there's not really any going back."
