Jesy Nelson Nearly Quit Little Mix Early, Reveals Family Intervention
Jesy Nelson Almost Left Little Mix After Two Years

Jesy Nelson's Early Doubts and Family Support in Little Mix Career

Jesy Nelson has openly admitted that she contemplated leaving Little Mix merely two years after the band's triumphant win on The X Factor in 2011. At 34, she reflected on how the intense pressure and relentless spotlight nearly drove her to depart before the group reached its peak success.

Family Intervention Kept Her in the Band

In a candid revelation, Nelson shared that it was a heartfelt conversation with her family, particularly her brother, that persuaded her to remain with Little Mix. She recalled sitting down with them to weigh the pros and cons, noting that at that early stage, the band was already well-known but not yet at its biggest. Her brother's encouragement was pivotal, as he told her, "You are so much stronger than you give yourself credit for and I think you can stick this out for another few years."

Reflecting on a Decade-Long Journey

Nelson ultimately stayed with the girl group for a decade before quitting in 2020. She emphasized that there has been a "false narrative" surrounding her departure and aims to set the record straight in her upcoming six-part Prime Video docuseries, Jesy Nelson: Life After Little Mix. At the London premiere, she expressed nostalgia for the band's early days, highlighting the strong friendship among members Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall. She stated, "The reason why Little Mix was so big was because we really were best friends," and hopes the documentary will put past controversies to rest.
