As Jeremy Clarkson faces the hardest chapter of his life, his partner, Lisa Hogan, has remained firmly by his side. The former Top Gear presenter left fans in tears this week when he revealed his prostate cancer diagnosis in the final episodes of his hit show Clarkson's Farm. The 66-year-old confirmed that the cancer was aggressive but caught early. After the upsetting scenes aired, Lisa took to Instagram to share a sweet photo of Jeremy in the garden of their 12.5 million pound countryside home, with the update: back at the farm.
Chance Meeting
Sparks seemed to have instantly flown for Clarkson when he first met Lisa, but she was much more cautious. The Irish former model has admitted she was wary of his reputation and took some convincing before agreeing to give him a chance. In June 2024, Lisa told RTÉ Radio that they met through mutual friends who had tried to set them up a couple of times. But everything changed at a Christmas party. She explained: I was just about to leave and we were introduced and he said, No, no, come on, sit down and have a chat. And that was it, really. So he called me a couple of days later and I thought, OK, you have got a bit of a rep so he had to really court me! He courted me for a solid three months!
Relationship History
Over the years, the former Top Gear host has had his fair share of failed romances. He was first married to Alex Hall in 1989, although the marriage lasted only a matter of months after she left him for one of his friends. In May 1993, Clarkson married his manager, Frances Cain, and they became parents to Emily, Finlo, and Katya. However, in 1999, Alex claimed she and the TV star embarked on a 10-year affair. It did not feel wrong because he was my ex-husband, she said. Clarkson strongly denied the claims and initially sought an injunction, accusing Alex of blackmailing him for 300,000 pounds which she denied. He hit Alex with a High Court injunction at a cost of tens of thousands of pounds. But in a peculiar development, he later applied for the order to be lifted saying he bitterly regretted it before blasting: Injunctions are a complete nonsense. Clarkson said at the time: I overturned my own injunction because injunctions do not work. If you take out an injunction there is the automatic assumption that you must be hiding something. Bear in mind my wife and I took out this injunction it was not just me. But we basically realized, with Twitter and Facebook, you are not really able to defend yourself any more. Now there has been this change not really in the law but more the interpretation of it you can no longer get an injunction and just sit on it; now the court forces you to go to trial which is massively expensive. And even if I win it all goes on Twitter and Facebook and once again I cannot do anything. But if I lose, I have got to pay her costs. Injunctions are a complete nonsense. I rue the day when I was advised to take one out. Asked whether she denies trying to blackmail Mr Clarkson, Ms Hall's spokesperson previously said: Yes. She can prove that is untrue. She told me that is totally untrue. She can and will prove that. He and Frances split in 2014 when he grew close to PA Phillipa Sage, who he met on the set of Top Gear. They were together until 2017, when she he was spotted out with Lisa. He had actually told me, I was born for you, and asked me to stay the night a few days before he was out with Lisa, she told Mail Online. Then, one of my friends pointed out the photograph of him with another woman. I thought, Oh yes, she is definitely his type. Lisa has also gone through her own divorce. The Dublin-born former model was married to Baron Steven Bentinck, a descendant of Dutch and British aristocracy, with whom she shares three children: Lizzy, Wolfe and Alice. Their marriage ended years before she met Clarkson. Baron Steven and Lisa first crossed paths in 1996 and tied the knot in 1998. They stayed together for 30 years, until 2011.
Marriage Questions
Despite frequent questions from fans, Lisa has dismissed the idea of walking down the aisle with Clarkson. In an interview with Fabulous Magazine, she was asked if wedding bells were on the horizon, to which she replied: Mrs Clarkson? No, thank you, I like Lisa Hogan. She added: We decided not to have children together. She added: I am just happy pootling along. I think because of our age, it is much easier. During an episode on Clarkson's Farm, the couple were discussing a potential engagement. Lisa jokingly asked if he was considering a proposal after claiming he had a big surprise for her, to which he responded, I will think about the proposal, OK? I am not ready yet. Lisa later told The Sunday Times about the moment: I just thought I might surprise him. Who knows, maybe we will hear wedding bells one day!
Age Gap
The couple have a 14-year age gap, but Lisa insists this does not change their dynamic. Though she admitted Clarkson definitely wears the trousers in their relationship, she insists it is fairly even. In an interview, she said: I do enjoy being a strong woman. He will say he wants something done and I will try to talk him around to a more sensible way. And then I will agree to do exactly what he wants and then I will go ahead and do exactly what I want! Their relatable dynamic makes them a hit on Clarkson's Farm, with Lisa often being left frustrated with her partner's lack of communication particularly when it came to her beloved snails on the latest season.
Life On Screen
Life on Diddly Squat has not always been easy on the couple. Farming has brought financial pressures, weather disasters, animal deaths and endless setbacks, many of which have played out on screen. In the recent series of Clarkson's Farm, Lisa was seen as Clarkson's unofficial health monitor after he was given strict orders to rest following heart surgery. However, in typical Clarkson fashion, he struggled to not get involved in all things farm life. Following his heart scare in 2024 and now his revelation that doctors have diagnosed him with an aggressive but early-stage prostate cancer, viewers have seen her encouraging healthier habits and attempting, with mixed success, to improve his diet. Fans say that Clarkson's relationship with Lisa has revealed a softer side. She was seen comforting him as his beloved pigs were removed following financial pressure. Clarkson has since undergone an operation to remove 10 percent of his prostate while continuing cancer treatment.
