Jennifer Ellison has joked she was 'fuming' as she watched her former Brookside co-star Philip Olivier tie the knot over the weekend. The 42-year-old actress, who played Emily Shadwick on the iconic Liverpool soap, attended the wedding of Olivier, best known for his role as Tim 'Tinhead' O'Leary, to his long-term partner Amy Virtue.
A Wedding on The Daffodil
The couple married aboard The Daffodil, a boat owned by Olivier, located on Canning Dock in Liverpool. The wedding took place last weekend and featured a star-studded guest list, including Emmerdale and Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas, as well as fellow Brookside stars Leon Lopez and Paul Byatt.
Ellison, who shared an on-screen romance with Olivier's character Tinhead, joked that her alter ego would be less than pleased. Speaking to the ECHO, she said: 'She was fuming! But she turned on the telly the other day and he was in Hollyoaks marrying my sister so I was like what's going on?'
Brookside Reunions
The wedding is not the first time the Channel 4 stars have reunited. Last month, several cast members enjoyed an evening of food, drinks and live music at The Daffodil for a private party. More than 100 guests gathered to celebrate the iconic Liverpool soap, which continues to hold its place as a cornerstone of Liverpool’s culture more than two decades after its final broadcast.
Ellison has been busy with a range of events this year, including starring in the ITV series G'wed. She told the ECHO: 'I've had the craziest few months, I've been promoting G'wed, I've had the reunion party, I had Tinhead's wedding on Saturday which I'm still recovering from.'
Return to Screens with G'wed
Ellison made her return to screens this year as part of G'wed, a Liverpool comedy that has been a smash hit since it debuted in 2024. The show follows the lives of a group of Year 11 students. Ellison made her debut during series three, which launched on the streaming platform last month. She had to wear a red wig to play Aimee Morris' (Amber Harrison) estranged mum.
Reflecting on her role, Ellison said: 'It's actually been really good. It's been lovely and the response has been so nice, especially the red hair. Everything is like a dream come true it's been great.'
Ellison also attended the Moulin Rouge press night at Liverpool Empire Theatre on Tuesday, further adding to her busy schedule.
