Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow and Matt LeBlanc have come together to honour their late Friends co-star Matthew Perry, two years after his death. The actors have signed a limited run of artwork designed by artist Tim Wakefield, who transformed the soundwaves of the Friends theme song into designs inspired by each character. In collaboration with Perry's estate, the pieces are embossed with his official signature.
Photographs show Aniston signing at a dining table in evening light, Cox on her floor with a dog, Schwimmer at a table in New York, Kudrow at a black marble table, and LeBlanc on an outdoor patio. All profits will support charities chosen by the cast, including The Matthew Perry Foundation, which aids those struggling with addiction.
Perry died on 28 October 2023 at age 54. An autopsy found that while he had been receiving ketamine infusions for depression and anxiety, the amount in his system at death could not have come from therapy due to the drug's short half-life. His assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, two doctors, a street dealer and a drug trafficker all pleaded guilty in connection with his death.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia was sentenced to 30 months for distributing ketamine. Jasveen Sangha, known as 'The Ketamine Queen,' faces up to 65 years in prison. Erik Fleming, the middleman, faces up to 25 years. Dr. Mark Chavez is expected to be sentenced in December 2025. Iwamasa, who admitted to injecting Perry with ketamine on the day of his death, faces up to 15 years.
Prosecutors said the defendants exploited Perry's addiction, distributing approximately 20 vials of ketamine worth $12 each for over $2,000 per vial. Aniston, who remained close to Perry until his death, paid tribute on the first anniversary in 2024, sharing a black-and-white photo of them together and tagging The Matthew Perry Foundation.
