Bunnie Xo has confirmed that she and Jelly Roll are still planning to have a baby together, despite the country musician filing for divorce last month. The podcaster shared the news on her show Dumb Blonde, explaining that their split does not change their family plans.
Bunnie Xo Speaks Out on Divorce and Baby Plans
Speaking on her podcast, Bunnie – real name Alisa DeFord – addressed listeners directly, saying they needed to understand the situation. “We’re literally settling our divorce in like … we’ve done it in like, what? Three weeks? Two weeks?” she said. “We’re still having a baby together.”
She emphasised that their relationship has always been unconventional. “We’re going to co-parent together. J is my best friend. Like, this isn’t what you guys think this is. Nobody cheated on the other person. It’s literally just we served our purpose for each other.”
Past Struggles and Future Hopes
Bunnie revealed that during their marriage, the couple had tried to get pregnant multiple times but lost four embryos. “It wrecked me emotionally, spiritually, physically. In a way, I kind of think J and I are trauma-bonded,” she said.
In her memoir Stripped Down, published in February, she shared that they had found a surrogate and planned to start IVF soon. However, after a Mother’s Day argument, she told her husband to “file divorce papers” and left their home. “He was so mad and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do,” she explained.
Despite the split, Bunnie said their divorce is happening on “the best possible terms.” As part of their settlement, she will move into their compound with their future child. “I’m so excited to live my life through a child’s eyes, which is why this baby journey, I’m not going to let it break me,” she said.
Jelly Roll’s Public Support
Jelly Roll has also spoken publicly about their divorce, supporting his estranged wife. On stage at his Saratoga Springs show, he told the audience: “Me and my wife are best friends; we will always be best friends. I will love her. She will probably be the only woman I’ll ever love the way I loved her.”
He shut down cheating rumours, saying, “Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it. Every word of it is truth.” He added, “That will be my best friend forever. Bunnie, I love you baby.”
Marriage and Grammy Tribute
The couple married in August 2016. At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Jelly Roll thanked his wife after winning best contemporary country album. “I would have never changed my life without you. I would have ended up dead or in jail. I would have killed myself if it wasn’t for you and Jesus. I thank you for that,” he said.
Jelly Roll filed for divorce last month, citing irreconcilable differences. Despite the legal proceedings, both remain committed to co-parenting and expanding their family.
