Cameron Douglas, the 37-year-old son of actor Michael Douglas, is reportedly pursuing an acting career following his release from prison. According to close friend and producer Noel Ashman, Cameron is working with an acting coach and hopes to follow in the footsteps of his famous father and grandfather, Kirk Douglas.
Ashman told People magazine that Cameron 'has a very raw kind of acting approach and commands attention on the screen.' He added that acting is 'something that he loves to do' and that he 'obviously has the genes for it.' Cameron previously starred alongside his father and grandfather in the 2003 film It Runs In The Family.
Cameron served nearly seven years in prison on drug charges, including possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of heroin. He was released in July and is currently living in a halfway house in New York. Ashman says Cameron is doing 'amazing,' working out daily, and focusing on his recovery.
In addition to acting, Cameron is spending time with his girlfriend, Brazilian yoga instructor Viviane Thibes, and hopes to start a charity for children with incarcerated parents. He is also rebuilding relationships with his family, including stepmother Catherine Zeta-Jones and grandfather Kirk.
