Jason Statham's latest action film, Mutiny, has arrived in UK cinemas, and fans have taken to IMDb to share their scathing opinions. The thriller has sparked a mixed response, with some viewers labelling it the actor's worst outing to date.
Fans deliver harsh verdicts
One reviewer, awarding the film 4/10, warned others not to “waste your time” and called it “probably the worst Statham movie yet.” They described Mutiny as “Die Hard on a ship,” a comparison echoed by several other audience members.
A 3/10 review, titled “Boring, predictable, paint by numbers action,” stated: “This has to be the worst film Statham has made in a while. After some great films like Wrath of Man and some decent efforts like A Working Man, it seemed like he had found his stride.” The reviewer concluded: “This was amateur hour bad.”
Another 5/10 review echoed the sentiment, calling it the Crank star's “worst” outing since The Beekeeper, A Working Man, and Shelter. They branded the film “very plain and mundane” and “average at best.” Despite the criticism, the reviewer said they would keep attending Statham's movies as a fan, adding: “Maybe once in a while, a good one will surface, which I thought 'The Beekeeper' was one of those. A 7/10 review declared: “This is a much better movie than his last movie Shelter. I am waiting to see what job he will have next time when he seeks vengeance.” Another noted: “Enjoy the dumb mindless action, and the absolutely terrible acting by all the side characters,” adding: “Nothing will ever come close to matching the original Die Hard and Under Siege, but that's okay. We shouldn't expect anything to.”
Plot and cast
Mutiny follows Statham's ex-cop Reed Cole, who seeks vengeance for the murder of his billionaire shipping magnate boss. After discovering the killers are on board a ship, he sneaks onto the vessel and wreaks havoc. Reed also finds hostages on board as part of a human trafficking operation and tries to save them.
Statham is joined by Annabelle Wallis, Adrian Lester, and Ramon Tikaram. Mutiny is expected to come to Prime Video after its cinema run and is screening in UK cinemas now.
