Jason Manford has been issued a demand by fans as he offered an update on his current stint on the airwaves, having taken on a new role on BBC Radio 2.
The Salford comic, presenter and actor can currently be heard covering the Drivetime on the station, between 4pm and 7pm every weekday, following the exit of Sara Cox.
Background to the Radio 2 Role
Listeners of the station will recall that the Bolton-born broadcaster was announced as the host of the station's flagship Breakfast programme in April, following the sacking of former host Scott Mills.
Sara began fronting the morning programme back in early July, taking over from Gary Davies, who had been filling in as breakfast show host since Mills was taken off air. But it left her Drivetime slot open.
Mark Goodier, Ellie Taylor and Alex Jones have all been heard filling in the slot, while recently Joel Dommett stepped up to the mic before Jason's stint got underway on Monday (August 17).
Jason's Update and Fan Reactions
Ahead of his first show, Jason posted a selfie from the studio on Instagram and informed his followers: "I’ll be keeping you company on @bbcradio2 drive time for next couple of weeks. So excited!"
Nearly a week into his two-week stint, and the 45-year-old has shared a fresh update. Posting another snap from the BBC Radio 2 studio, he told his followers: "This seat is getting a bit comfy ya know? [winking face emoji]. Having such a lovely week covering Drive Time on @bbcradio2."
He added: "Lovely listeners, loads of fun games & they allow to chat a bit of waffle! I spend most of the show singing along to the songs! Love it. Here till 7 and until next Friday."
And fans were keen to hear more from Jason beyond the end of his stint on Drivetime. @bethany_mayy said: "You’re smashing it, proud of you! I’ve been loving listening every day so far." @emlw88 commented: "You definitely need to be given a permanent drive time slot ! Love hearing your voice on the radio."
