Presenters Sophie Habboo and Jamie Laing have announced they are expecting their first child together. The couple, who met on the reality show Made in Chelsea in 2019, shared the news on Tuesday morning with a video from Habboo's first pregnancy scan.
In the clip, Habboo, 30, is seen smiling at an ultrasound screen while Laing, 36, reacts emotionally from behind the camera, exclaiming “Oh my god!” as he breaks down in tears. The couple married in Spain in 2023.
The announcement has drawn congratulations from celebrity friends, including Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague, who wrote “Congratulations guys!!!!”, and former Made in Chelsea star Lucy Watson, who said “Exciting times to come, congratulations.” Strictly Come Dancing's Dianne Buswell added: “Omg congratulations guys so so exciting!” while Vogue Williams, married to Laing's co-star Spencer Matthews, commented: “Ahhhhhh delighted for you guys.”
Habboo and Laing co-host the podcast NewlyWeds, documenting married life. Laing, whose great-grandfather founded McVitie's, is co-founder of confectionery company Candy Kittens. He joined BBC Radio 1's Going Home show in 2024, and earlier this year it was announced that Habboo would temporarily co-present with him while regular host Vick Hope takes maternity leave.
The couple have previously spoken about starting a family. In April, Laing told The Times: “I was really scared about kids... But I saw a clip on Instagram where someone said, 'The best thing I ever had is being called Dad.' I was like, 'Oh, wouldn't that be cool?' So now I'm so down for it. I would like to have loads.” In March, Laing raised over £2m for Comic Relief by running five ultra marathons in five days, finishing in Salford where he ran into Habboo's arms.
