Good Morning Britain stars have rallied around James Bourne after he shared a rare update following his health battle. The Busted singer, 42, announced his new album after taking time away from the spotlight.

Richard Arnold Shares Support on GMB

Richard Arnold joined presenters Kate Garraway and Ranvir Singh on the ITV daytime programme for his daily entertainment segment. Amid Call The Midwife and Bullseye news, Richard took a moment to speak about James Bourne.

The singer had spoken out in a new interview after stepping back from the spotlight before his band's tour with McFly last year. Earlier this year, James revealed he had to undergo major surgery to extend his life, but has now announced a new project he has also been working on.

James Bourne's Statement

He said: "I didn’t want my health to stop me from promoting this project because I’ve put 13 years of my life into it. There was a fear of not finishing it. But I knew I had to finish it and give this to the people."

He went on to say that he "was given a lot of time back" after pulling out of the tour, though "it was such a shame." James told The Sun: "With everything going on with my health, I have been given the gift of time. I was given a lot of time back when I wasn’t touring. It was like turning a negative into a positive. It was such a shame to have to drop out from the tour, because I love touring so much. But you have to turn negative into positive. They’re the conversations I’ve had with my closest friends."

GMB Presenters Send Love

Addressing James' news on Good Morning Britain on Friday (June 19), Richard shared: "Positive news from the world of music, from James Bourne who shocked fans last year when he had to sit out the latest tour." He went on to say "James has revealed that he's used the time to rest," before announcing the musician's new album, Murder at the Gates. Richard added: "We wish him all the best," as Ranvir said: "We're sending him all our love."

James Bourne's Health Revelation

James had revealed in April that he needed major surgery after skipping shows and sparking concern among fans as he took time away. "I realised it’s been about six months since I posted last," he shared on Instagram. "I have a plan in place to have a major surgery that should extend my life and hopefully make me well enough to come back to what I love the most which is touring and making music. It really sucks to be out of the game. But there is hope!"

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
