Sophie Church, the estranged wife of Jake Quickenden, has revealed she spent their last family holiday abroad in tears weeks before the couple announced their split.
The singer, presenter and actor, 37, confirmed earlier this summer that he and Sophie had ended their marriage after four years together. The former X Factor star and the businesswoman began dating in June 2018 and married in September 2022.
Final family trip marked by tears
In a series of social media posts, Sophie pointed out that social media often hides pain, captioning a collection of snaps: “Just remember behind every social media page is a person riding their own wave.”
Revealing the pain of their final family trip, she wrote: “On the last family trip abroad I was in the worst headspace & cried 80% of the trip.”
Supportive comments followed, with one person telling Sophie: “We’re all in the trenches with you, don’t care what people put on socials, life can be tough.” Another wrote: “Aww bless you, you’re doing a fantastic job to your three beautiful boys …onwards and upwards it will get easier.”
Couple share three sons
The former couple share three sons, with Jake being stepfather to Sophie's teenage son Freddie from a previous relationship. They are also parents to five-year-old Leo and one-year-old Kit.
In a social media post in June, Jake explained that he and Sophie had separated months earlier, writing: “Me and Sophie have unfortunately separated it’s been a few months now, tried to keep it private for us to come to terms with it and navigate it properly, while it also involves our beautiful children.”
He praised his estranged wife, adding: “Sophie is an amazing person and mother and we shared some very special moments together that I will always cherish, we have beautiful children together and they will always come first, I have respect and love for her and I want her to succeed in everything she does, I will always have her back.”
Growing apart
Jake said they had grown apart and decided they would be happier if they broke up, adding: “Many times in breakups people expect a huge reason, this isn’t like that it’s two people growing apart and realising that happiness rests its head somewhere else.”
The split news comes after Katie Price publicly flirted with Jake during onstage banter at the Hair and Beauty Awards earlier this month. A source told The Mirror: “Katie was flirting a lot with Jake and jokingly propositioning him. There was a lot of back and forth, and there’s a certain rapport between them. They had a hug when he came off stage and had a giggle together.”
