Jaclyn Smith, best known for her role as Kelly Garrett in the original Charlie's Angels television series, has revealed the key to her ageless look at 80. Speaking at the Paley Honors Spring Gala in New York City, the actress attributed her radiant complexion to 'clean living, being loved.'
Smith elaborated on her philosophy, emphasising the importance of family. 'I have the best family in the whole wide world to grow up with. Great husband, two beautiful children, three granddaughters. So, it doesn't get better than that. It's all about love, all about family with me,' she told Fox News Digital. The star has been married to her fourth husband, surgeon Brad Allen, since 1997.
The gala also marked the 50th anniversary of Charlie's Angels, which originally aired from 1976 to 1981. Smith reunited with former co-stars Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd on the red carpet. Reflecting on the event, Smith wrote on Instagram: 'What a treat to celebrate again with my friends from the Paley Center. Kate and I were so lucky to attend and accept this on behalf of our Charlie's Angels family.'
Jackson expressed surprise at the show's enduring popularity. 'Oh, it's wonderful. I mean, that we would be here 50 years later, 50 years after the debut, and it's still on television all over the world, never has gone off. It's just really amazing,' she said.
Smith, who was the only Angel to appear in all five seasons, acknowledged the series' impact on her career and on perceptions of women on screen. 'When I was starting out, no. But I guess we did pave the way for some glamour and looking at women in a different way. We sort of paved that way for new roles for women,' she added.
