Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has left his co-star speechless with his new look, revealing he has undergone a hair transplant for the third time and now sports a shaved head. The actor, best known for playing David Platt on the ITV soap, joined co-star Ben Price and former castmate Colson Smith on their podcast, marking his first appearance since the procedure.
In 2020, Jack showcased the results of his second hair transplant, having previously admitted that his receding hairline severely impacted his confidence. As an actor, he felt it was crucial to have a full head of hair, and the stress of hurtful social media comments prompted him to take action.
Jack underwent his second operation in December 2019, exactly a year after his first procedure. At the time, he explained: 'I know some people will say that I am being incredibly vain having a second hair transplant so quickly after the first one. All I can say to that was that I needed to do it for my long-term mental well-being. I have been in Corrie for 20 years now - ever since I was 12. I know I have been incredibly lucky and love working with such a fantastic group of actors but the relentless schedules take their toll on your mental health, particularly when you have been through as much trauma as David Platt.'
Jack has now undergone a hair transplant for the third time, revealing on the On the Sofa podcast: 'This is my third one. So most people are thinking, I thought you would just get one hair transplant and then it is Elvis. But that is not the case apparently, because baldness still progresses as time goes on. So I had one in 2018, 2019 and now. So I have had it all done mainly on the front and sections.' He then removed his baseball cap to show off his newly shaven head, exclaiming: 'That is a shock, is not it? That is short.' Colson, who himself had a hair transplant in 2024, responded: 'I think it is a look, you know. I actually quite like it.' As Ben burst into laughter, Jack quipped: 'Ben is stunned!'
Eventually, Ben managed to say: 'I actually do not think you look that bad.' Colson agreed, saying: 'It suits you. Bald and beard is a look.' After spending several minutes laughing before giving his opinion, Ben reiterated: 'I actually do not think you look that bad. I could get used to you like that.'
When asked by Colson if deciding to go back for a third procedure was a big decision, Jack replied: 'No because I could see it further back in the middle. I could see it going in. So it was sort of act now while I could and I had a bit of time off for the baby, so it was perfect.' Colson joked: 'Paternity and hair transplant,' to which Jack responded: 'Exactly that. What a month!'
Jack confessed that his wife, Hanni, had some concerns, specifically about photos when their first child together arrives. The couple shared the joyful news of Hanni's pregnancy on Valentine's Day, just seven months after exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony at Manchester Cathedral in July 2025. They announced their baby news with a heartwarming social media post, featuring a video of the couple strolling through the grounds of a picturesque country house before Jack tenderly cradled and kissed Hanni's growing bump. The clip was captioned: 'We have been keeping a secret... June 2026. Thank you so much to the dream team who made this so special for us.'
