ITV's director of television Kevin Lygo has said he would consider airing Holly Willoughby's YouTube series Together.
Willoughby, 45, fronted ITV's This Morning for 14 years but stepped down in 2023, months after her co-host Phillip Schofield left after admitting to an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a young male colleague.
Together series launch
In July this year she launched her Together series – which has been billed as a “home for real conversations” and has seen guests including Stanley Tucci, Katherine Ryan and Lily Phillips appear.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival on Wednesday, Lygo was asked about the possibility of airing the series on ITV.
He said: “Yeah, I think it’s good. Holly is so skilled and wonderful, and is right to give it a go.”
He added: “I think possibly yes, I don’t see why not. We will see how these things develop.”
The Voice and Big Brother discussions
During the panel event, ITV's entertainment commissioning editor Joe Mace was also asked about The Voice returning after being kept on the shelf for a year, and whether it was time to rest the series for good.
Appearing to allude to reports that Cheryl will be joining the show, he said: “We are about to try some new talent on the next series.
“There’s a very dedicated audience out there and we love them.”
Meanwhile, Lygo also discussed the return of Big Brother following the celebrity version being rested for 2026.
He said of the civilian series: “We have got one (season) coming up and are committed to it.
“But it’s brutal out there. As long as it delivers, and it is delivering, we will continue.
“It is the most extraordinary show of the last 20 years. It has influenced so much. It was the first big reality show that showed people in all their vulnerability and it’s great it is still on British TV, and it will continue for as long as it can.”
Sky deal comments
At the start of the event, Lygo also spoke about Sky's £1.6 billion deal to buy ITV's media and entertainment business.
Calling it “logical” and a “good deal”, Lygo said ITV viewers should also “not notice anything radically different”.
He said: “For the viewer, what matters to ITV will continue. Properly funded, UK storytelling with lots of drama, entertainment, live and news and regional news. All of that will continue.”
The sale includes ITV's terrestrial TV channels and streaming service ITVX, but does not include its production arm, ITV Studios, which makes shows including I'm A Celebrity and popular dramas such as Mr Bates Vs The Post Office.
