Rebecca Zamolo, a social media star, disclosed that her husband Matt was badly injured in the face when their barbecue went horribly awry just hours before a planned flight to Hawaii for his birthday.

Rebecca commands a large online following, with more than 30 million YouTube subscribers and roughly 3.3 million Instagram followers, thanks to her family vlogs and viral challenges. Her husband, Matt Yoakum, is a familiar figure to fans and regularly appears in the couple's videos alongside their young children, Zadie and Xander.

What Happened Before the Hawaii Trip

The frightening incident surfaced on Friday, July 31, when Rebecca posted images showing the painful red marks across Matt's face. The family, based in California, did not go into detail about the exact cause of the fire or whether Matt needed on-the-spot emergency hospital treatment.

Rebecca's Instagram Post

Writing on Instagram, Rebecca said: "For those who don't know, Matt's face caught on fire at our BBQ and it gave him '2nd degree superficial burns'."

She added: "It was hours before our flight to Hawaii to celebrate his birthday so he has been healing here. (He still wanted to go). It was a scary incident for all of us, and a reminder how precious life is."

"Thank you to everyone that has reached out and friends that are in the medical field and put him on a good path to heal. He's extremely lucky as it could have been a lot worse, but we are taking it day by day. We love you Matt."
