I'm A Celebrity Rule Change: Why Angry Ginge Forced ITV's Hand
I'm A Celebrity Bosses Change Voting Rule After Fan Fury

ITV has thrown a major curveball into this year's I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! by implementing a significant new rule that alters how the public votes for the dreaded Bushtucker Trials.

The New 'Two In A Row' Rule Explained

The fresh restriction, announced by show bosses, means that individual campmates cannot be selected by the public to undertake the demanding challenges for multiple consecutive days. The new regulation effectively works on a 'two in a row and you miss a go' basis. Chiefs stated the change has been designed specifically to "give all campmates the opportunity to shine".

Why Angry Ginge Is The Real Reason Behind The Change

However, former campmate Nicola McLean, who featured on the show in 2008, believes the decision was heavily influenced by the surging popularity of one particular 2025 contestant. She suggests that Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was the catalyst for the shake-up.

The Twitch streamer and YouTuber, renowned for his FIFA and football-related content, commands a massive online army. As of November 2025, he has gathered over 1.4 million followers on Twitch and 889,000 subscribers on YouTube.

Speaking on behalf of WhichBingo, Nicola revealed her mixed feelings about the new rule. "There's like two minds for me," she said. "One mind, I think it's good because we get to see different people but then in another mind it's really funny when the same person does it."

She didn't mince words about the likely reason for the change, adding: "I feel like Ginge has changed that because I think he would have been voted for every single one, not because people don't like him but his popularity and his streamers would have voted it."

A United Kingdom: The 2025 Cast's Winning Formula

Beyond the rule controversy, the 2025 series is being hailed as a success for uniting viewers across generations. The ten campmates are gradually adapting to their new environment in the Australian jungle, and Nicola explained that this year's cast is exceptionally powerful.

The mum-of-two revealed that the line-up has even managed to bring her own household together. "I'm absolutely loving it. I really am. I think it's a really good line-up," she said. "They've done so well on getting Aitch and Angry Ginge because my 15 year old is watching it with me for the first time ever."

She praised the diversity of the cast, noting the appeal to different demographics. "You've also got Martin Kemp for the older ladies, who's gorgeous, and I absolutely love Ruby Wax." According to Nicola, "everyone's got a good personality in there", and she believes the quieter contestants will emerge as the group gets smaller.

I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continues to air at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
